The Lonesome Death of Joe-Joe Valenti

I've just posted another story to our Once-Told Tales. It's something I wrote a few years ago, and something I read recently reminded me of it, so I decided to post it. It's very short (just a couple of pages) so you should go read it now. Posted by Will Duquette at May 16, 2004 10:04 AM

I liked it. Elegant handling of the punchline.

Thanks much, Ian!

This is one of those stories that pretty much wrote itself. I felt like writing something, and sat down, and bang, out it came, out of nowhere. I really like Buller's voice, but I'm not at all sure I could do it again.

Ah, the oft-used analogy. Very nice. Good use of description. Could use some tightening, but the ending snuck up on me, and that's always a plus.

Where do you think it needs tightening? It reads pretty well to me, so I'm curious.

I liked it. Your work usually has some sort of catch as the punchline but that one was great! I've sometimes thought lawyers are bloodsucking leeches but the vampire thing was a new one.

It's well-told. Good job.
